When is the Last Frost Date in My Growing Zone? 2025

Many flower seed varieties, including those in our moon garden kit, require outdoor planting of seedlings only after the last frost. But when is that? We're here for your 2025 spring gardening and planting calendar forecast.

Below is the official Farmer's Almanac predictor for 2025:

There's a 30% probability of the frost date occurring before or after the window listed, so take precautions and protect tender plants during early spring. In our kits, we offer instructions to start seeds inside and watch them sprout before transferring them outside, or simply sowing them into fresh soil once the danger of frost has passed.

Here's another bit of info, also from Farmer's Almanac, on what happens to plants in varying degrees of freeze:

Different Types:

• Light freeze: 29 degrees F to 32 degrees F – tender plants killed, with little destructive effect on other vegetation.
• Moderate freeze: 25 degrees F to 28 degrees F – widely destructive effect on most vegetation, with heavy damage to fruit blossoms and tender and semi-hardy plants.
• Severe freeze: 24 degrees F and colder – damage to most plants.

So... if you're starting a garden for the first time or if you're in a severe freeze zone, it's best to wait until you're safely out of the no-freeze zone in your area before planting.
